So this past Tuesday, I did something that I haven’t done in a long, long time: I FINISHED A MANUSCRIPT!!! Maybe this doesn’t sound like a big deal since I’ve already published two novels, (also a long, long time ago,) but to me, it’s MAJOR. Finishing a novel has been on my quarterly goals list for … wow, years. The mid-grade novel I’ve just finished, Heroes, Wish, and Trailer Park Hitches, showed up on this year’s first quarter as well as my 2017 Third Quarter list. Completing A Year of Happy Endings was on my 2017 Second Quarter post over at Joyful Miles plus this novel made it on my 2017 First Quarter as well.

But no matter how much I claimed writing as being my number one goal … I just. Couldn’t. Finish. ANYTHING.

This is why I didn’t bother posting this year’s first quarter goals. Because I’m tired of sharing goals with all my hopes and gusto only to fail three months later. And with each failure, I felt myself drifting farther and farther away from the person I dream of being: A successful writer.

However.

I really should have written a first quarter post, because I KICKED BUTT this time around! Yes, I finished HWTPH on April 2nd, but I’m still counting it as a first quarter win since, quite frankly, I need the mental win. And the reason why I’ve finally finished a manuscript is from the many, MANY changes I’ve been making in my life over the past couple of months, including eliminating television, pulling back on Joyful Miles content, and establishing a more structured work schedule.

All of which I’ll be sharing in upcoming posts, seeing as how I really want to get back into blogging more here even though nobody is reading this. And that’s okay. For me, 2018 is going to be all about healing and charging forward down a different path with no more guilty glances at the past. My next step is to take a breather over the weekend from HWTPH by getting caught up on backlogged video recaps, and then hitting the rewrite hard on Monday as part of my Camp NaNoWriMo project!

Oh, but I’m totally writing a post about my second quarter goals, first. 😉

Have a great weekend!
