About

Hello and thanks for stopping by my little corner of the blogosphere!

Short Bio Version:

I’m Laura – a writer, runner, mother, blogger, runDisney addict, small business owner, rental property manager, excellent chili maker, and obsessive list keeper who still thinks Spice World was a great movie and feels no shame about that. None. Whatsoever.

Long Bio Version: 10 Things About Me

1.) I never lie about my age. I think that’s a disrespect to yourself and ladies … if we want society to view our age as an asset instead of a liability, then it begins with us, m’kay? And while I’m not a fan of my wrinkles, I don’t envy 25-year-olds. If anything, they should envy me because I’ve already been 25 plus 25 more!

2.) My husband and I have been married for over twenty-seven years. He’s my best friend and biggest supporter so while my writing career might suck at times, marriage is one thing I got right!

3.) We have two wonderful boys, one of whom is still in college and the other engaged to an amazing gal with a September wedding date! I miss not having them at home but I’m trying to not be one of those pestering moms who text their kids every day. (Emphasis on try.)

4.) I have a pen fetish. Give me a pen and I’m a happy woman.

5.) And a total planner and journal. Right now, I’m loving my Erin Condren life planner and I use about … oh, ten journals, give or take. But I can stop at any time SO JUST BACK OFF, okay????

6.) Have I mentioned my runDisney addiction yet? Yet, it’s pretty bad. But runDisney helped pull me out of a dark, dark place back in 2013 so I consider it therapy.

7.) I love musicals. Sometimes I wish I could sing I Dreamed a Dream like Patti LuPone or Another Suitcase in Another Hall by Elena Rogers. Sometimes my husband wishes I’d stop trying.

8.) Scrubs is still my favorite TV show. EAGLE!!!!

9.) I used to be a cocktail waitress at a dive redneck bar where a motorcycle gang often frequented. One day, I shall write a book series about this. It shall be scandalous and names shall be changed.

10.) I also used to be a professional actress. Well … okay, more like one of those hired costumed characters at mall holiday parades during my broke college days. (Memories of being terrorized as a candy cane by rowdy high schoolers still haunt me at night.)

11.) Sometimes when I’m struggling with a scene, I image Tim Gunn comforting me. Or if I really need a kick in the butt? A screaming Jon Taffer.

12.) My favorite quote? “If we are ever to enjoy life, now is the time, not tomorrow or next year … Today should always be our most wonderful day.” –Thomas Dreier.
