Happy New Year, everyone!
I’ve been hemming and hawing over what to say in my first website post. First posts are important, you know. They set the tone of what is yet to come, so I wanted it to be something super positive.
This morning, I got my positive when my editor forwarded me this message from Cynthia Leitich Smith regarding my novel:
- “Beauty Shop for Rent is a down-home, whole-heart story. It’s about a strong girl bolstered by love, shaking off lies, and finding the courage to take chances. It’s about the wrong dream, the right guy, righteous gossip, and the power of a good spa treatment. Funny, aching, and authentic, Laura Bowers’ debut is one of the finest, most entertaining I’ve ever read.”
Wow. This made my day. My month. My year! I think I’m still in shock over her wonderful, kind words. Add to that the amazing blurb I received a few days prior from Ellen Wittlinger:
- “Bowers gets all the emotional details right in this warm-hearted story. These are the kinds of characters you hate to leave behind when you finish the last page.”
I’m hoping that great news like this continues throughout the year, and that EVERYONE has a fantastic 2007!
